Woke up at 8 today to go Ubin. In the end left J8 at only 9.45 cause Surya came freaking late. The bus ride was well err fun at the expense of others. Lol.. In the end reached Ubin like 1 hour 30 minutes later. Rented the $4 bike that seemed to be of great working conditions until much later.
Cycle like some madmen all the way till the Ketam bike trail. The stupid thing was that, they put the trail guide not at the entrance but near it. So thinking that some random clearing beside it was the start, we went in, only to realise 50m later that we went the wrong way. Continue cycling, then finally found it. Damn fun at first... Got the skills park which owns like siao... Can fly inside there. Then continue after that. Soon after got like uphill parts. Then my bike start to cock up. First the chain is like freaking lose, so it keep on sliding through the gears. I thought that it was fine and continued. A while later, the whole chain came off at the front part and slide into very tight areas. Damn hard to pull out. Pull halfway start raining, then go shelter to fix. Fix until the hand turn black. Damn pissing lor. Wipe a bit on tissue paper then continue liaos. After that didn't dare to pedal hard on that bike liaos. Finish the trail lor, wanted to go the intermediate course but it was pouring liaos, so the trail got damn slippery... Not safe at all, unless u want to die faster. Go back lor, rain got heavier. The road was completely wet, so ended up completely drenched when we reached back to the jetty area. But damn fun, first time cycle in so heavy rain before. Waited for the rain to stop at the stall and buy drink lor. Rain stop liaos then go back.
Lessons learnt after this:
Check your bike properly, dun just assume that it looks good and breaks quite well that it is fine. Test the chain as well. Unless you want to get stranded later.
Waterproof your extra clothes and stuff. Your bag is waterproof but it still gets moist inside.
Bring extra footwear like slippers if you know that it will rain. Cycling in the rain will make your foot soaking wet and it is not fun at all.
Bring a screw driver if your paranoid because something may just screw up halfway. And make sure you also DO know how to fix the problem.
Drink lots of water, unless you want to dehydrate badly. A bit obvious lah but yarh...
Want to go back there. Try their immediate trail. Looks quite fun just now, but too bad can't go. Oh well next time. MUST choose better bike though... Don't want to repeat today's wonderful spoilt bicycle incident. Though my bike chain always comes out every single time i cycle for some reason or another. Stupid bikes. But they're still fun to ride.
